CFA AWARDS MADE BY PRECIOUS PETS GOT STARTED!
A recollection of Donna's CFA
Award History:
It all started in late
'80s when you two & I put our heads together to make
me a "SCOTY". For shorthair breeders who would never get the
chance to wear a COTY. I asked Allan at an International show
if he could make years and hang three of them from my
SCOTY pendant he had made. I had three of them - 1977,
1980, and 1989. As I started wearing this necklace to every
cat-related function, other fanciers admired it and then
Allan & Loni made the "National Winner" Pendant for Connie, and
the rest is history!!
I started showing cats in 1972 (pet RB, made one final her whole
life but got me hooked), got my first show cat in the fall of
1973, granded that first cat spring of 1974, began my first
National campaign June 1974. First National was a male I
purchased from Diana Doernberg. He was 4th Best Kitten, 8th Best
Cat for the 1974-75 show season , the earliest years on my NW
award. My first NW of my own breeding was in 1977 and also
my first SCOTY.
Of the 18 NWs on my pin, all are Russian Blues except for 1979
which is a Blue-cream Persian (this one resulted from a dare - a
Persian breeder said I couldn't get a NW if I had to do all the
grooming, soooo......)
The 18 NW represent 16 cats (1975 and 2001 are boys who got
Kitten and Championship the same year) and 14 of those are Tsar
Blu cats.
I think that my span of years between the first and most recent
NW is among the longest still showing! .. Donna |
